Mustangs News · Girls BBall takes down Huskies, secures 2nd place

The Lady Mustang basketball team defeated Centennial on Friday night to take 2nd place in the BIG VIII league.  In a tough fought battle, the lady Mustangs were able to hang close enough to Centennial through the first three quarters.  In the fourth quarter, behind some key rebounds by sophomore Jaachi Nwanevu (15 pts/12 reb) the ladies finally began to catch fire.   Feeding off the inspired play, Michelle Ugonne scored 13 of her team high 27 points in that quarter as well. Michelle also finished with 18 rebounds. The night was capped off with a great defensive stand led by Kaylee Richardson.
The ladies finish the regular season with the best record in school history of 24-4.  Next up is the first round of CIF where the 4th ranked Lady Mustangs will take on Bishop Amat HS in our own Stangnasium on Thursday at 7:00.
