Your boys cross country packed it up Wednesday to a convincing win over league rival ML King. Your boys continue to be ranked in the top 3 in the Southern Section and state. The boys team had a team time gap of 20.4 seconds with their 1-6 runners on the day in the Varsity race. They were paced by the quartet of seniors Tyler Spencer, Raymon Ornelas and sophomores Raul Chavez and Michael Sahagun.
Your boys JV team also won their race for the day being paced by a 1-2-3 finish by Ricardo Sainz, Kevin Lopez and Aaron Lieberman. Freshman Zach Lang rounded out the top 5 finishing behind Sophomore Max Zheng.
Your girls Varsity team stepped up and beat CIF #7 Ranked ML King to finish second in their first league meet behind Santiago, who is also ranked in CIF at #10. Paloma Barron lead the charge for your Mustangs and behind her followed Kimberly Pena who had one of the best performances of the year. Abigale Rippe, Jordan Hernandez and Jasmine Walker rounded out our top 5 for the day.
On the the girls JV side you Mustangs placed 3rd being led by an outstanding race by Gabby Salcedo and followed by Aily Camacho. Their performances helped them solidify spots to travel with the Varsity team next week to the Nike Portland XC race held in Portland, OR.
Your top boys and girls Mustangs will be traveling to Portland, Oregon next week to compete at the prestigious Portland XC Invite. Roosevelt will be one of several schools from California to make the trip including neighbors and CIF counterparts from Vista Murrieta and Rancho Cucamonga.
