Multiple Teams · Bernard Joseph Finishes Strong!!

Sophomore Breanna Bernard Joseph exceeded all expectations of a talented sophomore, not only did she claim a CIF Div.1 Individual Title, she also captured the CIF Southern Section Masters Meet Title. She traveled to the CIF State Prelims and Finals as the top ranked 300H in the entire Southern Section and ranked #2 in the state behind only state leader Jurnee Woodward from Vacaville.

Breanna was the only Mustang this season to represent ERHS at the CIF State Prelims and Finals. She had a rocky start in her opening event the 100 Hurdles as she hit a hurdle and eventually finished the race stepping over hurdles due to the State Meet’s Honest Effort Rule. She came back in what is almost now, normal fashion. and qualified with the #3 time of the prelims to advance to the state finals. She was one of only 3 non seniors to qualify for the state finals.

With only the 300 Hurdles to focus on she was able to race smart and fast and was able to capture second place in the event. She exceeded all expectations and became one of only three female hurdlers in school history to become a State Runner Up in a CA State Finals event and the only sophomore to ever do so! The other two females were Pole Vault standout Gardenia Centanaro (CSUN) and Hurdle standout Jasmyne Graham (USC).

We look forward to 2 more great years with Breanna! Awesome Job!!
